ASSOCIATE LAB TESTER – BASKING RIDGE, NJ
Associate Lab Tester:
The Select Group is looking for an Associate Lab Tester to support a telecommunications initiative. This is located in Basking Ridge, NJ. They are expanding beyond its industry-leading wireless services into home internet and in-home connectivity solutions, including routers, Wi-Fi systems, and related devices. This consultant will support the scaling and operation of a lab testing environment focused on in-home networking products.
You will play a hands-on role in ensuring customers receive a seamless, stable, and reliable home internet experience. This opportunity offers exposure to networking, test engineering, and emerging technologies such as automation and AI within a dynamic lab setting.
Associate Lab Tester Requirements:
- Core Networking Knowledge
- Foundational understanding of in-home networking (professional or home lab experience)
- Knowledge of:
- IP addressing and basic routing
- DHCP and DNS
- Routers, Wi-Fi systems, and extenders
- Understanding of network performance concepts (throughput, latency, QoS)
- Familiarity with tools like iPerf (preferred but not required)
- Testing & Troubleshooting
- Experience executing test cases in a lab or structured environment
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Ability to investigate issues using logs and system data
- Operating Systems & Scripting
- Experience with Linux and/or Windows environments
- Comfort with command-line interfaces
- Exposure to scripting (e.g., Bash, Python, TCL or similar)
- Tools & Systems
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar ticketing/documentation tools
- Familiarity with test documentation and issue tracking workflows
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as CCNA or CompTIA (Network+, Linux+, Server+, Cloud+)
- Experience with packet analysis tools like Wireshark
- Exposure to automation frameworks or AI-driven workflows
- Familiarity with Google Workspace tools
- Experience with Wi-Fi technologies or certifications
Associate Lab Tester Responsibilities:
- Set up, configure, and maintain lab environments for testing routers, Wi-Fi systems, and extenders
- Execute predefined test cases and scenarios across in-home networking devices
- Troubleshoot failed test cases and perform root cause analysis
- Capture, review, and analyze system and network logs
- Physically manage lab equipment, including wiring, device setup, and activation/deactivation
- Document defects, test results, and findings using tools like Jira or similar systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to adjust testing priorities and resolve issues in real time
- Simulate real-world networking conditions to validate performance, stability, and reliability
